Pipe Management Australia (PMA) has commenced a package of pipe relining works for Unitywater on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Relining is used to repair an existing length of pipe between two manholes. This prevents the need to dig up roads and other assets to replace the pipe. Relining saves a substantial amount of time and money but also minimises the impact of repairs on the surrounding community.
UV relining delivers a proven, efficient method that delivers a lining with long-lasting structural integrity, extending an asset’s life by up to 50 years. As part of this package of works, PMA recently installed a liner in Mooloolaba, using our advanced UV Relining Unit.
One of PMA’s CCTV Inspection Units conducted a clean and assessment of the line. This was to ensure everything was clear and ready for the lining to be installed.
As this was an active sewer line, a PMA combo drain cleaning units was utilised to provide flow control, removing excess fluid from the line allowing the works to be conducted.
The liner was then installed into the affected pipe. A UV light train then travelled inside the new liner to activate the curing process. Once the liner cured, the line was pressure tested to ensure the seal is effective.
Robotic grinding was then used to reconnect household lines to the drain. This then allows a team to install T seals to ensure each household has a stable connection to the newly lined sewer.
PMA’s UV Relining Unit includes a control room and computer system that monitors the entire process. This system ensures that the curing process is automatically recorded. A report containing speed, length, pressure, and other parameters can also be produced at the end of each job. The unit is capable of relining pipes as small as 150mm in diameter and as large as 1500mm.
The unit is operated by a team of highly trained and experienced professionals. These professionals have their Certificate 3 in Trenchless Technologies and are certified CCTV operators with the Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA).
For the project with Unitywater, PMA was able to provide CCTV Units for inspection, combo drain cleaning units for cleaning and flow control, civil crew, the relining unit, as well as robotics and T Seal units for reconnecting households to the network.
This Is a well-rounded example of how PMA’s diverse fleet and innovative methods can deliver a holistic solution for our Clients.
