Sunshine Coast Business Awards Finalist

PMA Finalist in 2025 Sunshine Coast Business Awards for Advanced Technology

Pipe Management Australia (PMA) is thrilled to announce that we have been named a finalist in the 2025 Sunshine Coast Business Awards – our third consecutive year being honoured as a finalist.

This year, for the first time, we’re being recognised in the Advanced Technology category. This achievement is especially meaningful to us, as it highlights our ongoing commitment to innovation in sewer and stormwater management. The Sunshine Coast Business Awards celebrate the region’s outstanding businesses, and being acknowledged among such remarkable companies again in 2025 is a true honour for the entire PMA team.

We owe this recognition to the relentless dedication of our team, our focus on cutting-edge solutions and the trust our Clients place in us. In 2023 and 2024, PMA was a finalist in the Clean Technology category, reflecting our drive for sustainability and excellence. Now, being named a finalist in the Advanced Technology category underscores how we continue to push the envelope with new technologies in our industry. We remain committed to delivering top-tier service across the Sunshine Coast and all the communities we serve, and this nomination reinforces that commitment.

Jennifer Swaine, Chair of the Sunshine Coast Business Awards Committee, commended PMA for their outstanding achievement in being named a finalist in the Advanced Technology category.

She said the company’s innovation and commitment to excellence exemplify the exceptional calibre of businesses contributing to the Sunshine Coast’s continued growth and economic advancement. Ms Swaine noted that organisations like PMA play a pivotal role in showcasing the region’s leadership in technology, sustainability, and enterprise

Driving Innovation in Sewer & Stormwater Management with The RACER

One of the key reasons PMA has been recognised in the Advanced Technology category is our investment in innovative solutions for sewer and stormwater infrastructure. At the heart of our technological innovation is The RACER – which stands for Rapid Assessment Condition Evaluation Rover. Developed through collaboration between PMA and key Australian utilities, The RACER represents a major step forward in how underground networks are inspected and managed.

This advanced pipeline inspection rover uses high-definition cameras and sonar to inspect active sewer lines, even under flow, detecting debris build-up and pipe damage below the waterline in real time. The RACER is an untethered, floating drone that can manoeuvre through sewer networks, capturing 360° visuals and sonar data without requiring anyone to physically enter the pipe. By removing the need for manual entry into sewers, it dramatically improves worker safety while providing detailed, accurate data.

Commitment to Community and Excellence

PMA’s consistent recognition in the Sunshine Coast Business Awards over the past three years is a testament to our ongoing dedication to excellence and innovation. We believe that innovation is at the heart of how we deliver vital services, with our team always looking for new ways to solve the challenges in our industry. But equally important is why we innovate: to better serve our clients and communities.

While our operations span the east coast, the Sunshine Coast holds a special place for us. It’s home to many of our team members and projects, so being named a finalist for this award is something we’re especially proud of. It recognises the positive impact our local crews continue to make in the community where so many of us live and work.

Being finalists for three years running shows that our efforts are making an impact. Whether it was our sustainable practices highlighted in the Clean Technology category or our cutting-edge tools now highlighted in Advanced Technology, PMA has consistently demonstrated leadership in our field. We have embraced new technologies, like The RACER, and sustainable initiatives, like our Drain Buddy litter trap and other eco-friendly practices, to set higher standards in utility management. Our team’s hard work, passion, and ingenuity drive us forward, and we’re humbled that the Sunshine Coast Business Awards committee continues to recognise our commitment to innovation and community excellence.

Justin Johansen, CEO and Director of Pipe Management Australia, said:
“We are extremely proud of our team for once again being recognised among the Sunshine Coast’s best businesses. Being named a finalist in the Advanced Technology category is especially meaningful – it shows that our drive to innovate, through initiatives like The RACER, is making a real impact. The Sunshine Coast community and every community we serve, is at the heart of everything we do, and this recognition is a testament to how our team’s hard work and innovation are benefiting the communities we serve.”

Looking Ahead to Future Innovations

As we look forward to the awards gala on November 8 – when winners of the Sunshine Coast Business Awards will be announced – PMA remains as committed as ever to our vision of innovation and service. Regardless of the outcome on the night, being named a finalist in the Advanced Technology category is already a huge honour for us. It motivates us to continue pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients and communities. Our promise is to keep evolving and improving, ensuring that our clients and their communities that we operate in benefit from the latest and best in sewer and stormwater management technology.
